Jaiz Bank Plc dominated trading activity on the Nigerian Exchange as investors exchanged 210.7 million of the bank’s shares in transactions valued at approximately ₦1.58 billion on the trading day of August 28, 2026.
The transaction placed Jaiz Bank among the top five most-traded equities during the NGX trading report for August 28, 2026, highlighting heightened investor interest in the non-interest banking institution.
The reported volume of 210,707,490 shares was valued at ₦1,583,776,312.60, implying an average transaction price of approximately ₦7.52 per share. The figures represent total market activity for the last trading period confirmed by the NGX trading report.
Jaiz Bank also appeared among the top equities traded for the week ended 28 August 2026. The top three were Fortis Global Insurance PLC, Jaiz Bank and First HoldCo. The three accounted for trades of ₦26.898billion in 14,758 deals equivalent to 793.104 million shares. These contributed 31.64% and 21.83% in total equity turnover volume and value.
Jaiz Bank’s latest available NGX profile showed the stock closing at ₦7.95, representing a 3.25 percent gain from its previous close of ₦7.70. The stock has performed 74.72% ytd.
This increased activity comes against the backdrop of improved financial performance by the bank. Jaiz Bank reported a profit before tax of ₦31 billion for the 2025 financial year, compared with ₦23.5 billion recorded in 2024.
The lender’s performance was supported by higher income from financing and investment transactions. Total assets also rose by 19.1 percent to ₦1.29 trillion the same year, reflecting continued expansion of its capital position.
Jaiz Bank sustained its positive earnings performance in the first half of 2026. The bank’s unaudited results showed that profit after tax increased to ₦15.09 billion from ₦14.45 billion in the corresponding period of 2025.
Profit before tax also rose to ₦15.42 billion, while total assets expanded to approximately ₦1.64 trillion. Customer deposits increased to ₦831.06 billion, indicating continued growth in the bank’s funding base.
Investors should monitor whether the elevated activity is followed by continued price appreciation, stronger liquidity and increased participation from institutional investors.
