BUA Cement outlines logistics upgrades ahead of second-half demand.

The company reaffirmed expansion plans while signaling a focus on margin discipline and distribution efficiency.

BUA Cement has set out a programme of logistics and distribution upgrades intended to position the producer for stronger second-half demand, with management stressing margin discipline over volume chasing.

The core of the plan is haulage. Cement economics in Nigeria are dominated by the cost of moving a tonne from plant to market, and BUA's expanded fleet and depot network are aimed squarely at compressing that line item rather than at adding kiln capacity.

Management reaffirmed existing expansion commitments but declined to accelerate them, a posture consistent with a producer that expects competitive intensity to rise as rival capacity comes onstream. Holding the line on price while lowering delivered cost is the stated route to protecting margin.

Energy remains the swing variable. Gas availability and the cost of alternative fuels have historically driven quarter-to-quarter volatility in cement margins across the sector, and BUA is no exception.

The strategy is coherent. Whether it survives contact with a demand environment shaped by construction activity and public infrastructure spending is the open question for the second half.
